It was our monthly Cactus Club meeting today. Took along some cacti to sell as well as some for the monthly competition and some donations for the raffle.

This is a Bonsai tray of various cacti. It started life as a bit of cement left over from cleaning out the mixer. I didn't want to just throw it away so I mixed a bit of compost in with it, made it into a rough dish shape and put a drainage hole in it. It formed a very shallow tray so I tried some Mammillaria vetula gracilis in it. They just hung on with very little substrate, putting long roots out that grabbed the rough tray. I later added some Opuntias and I noticed a small seedling has come up in it.
We were given this Monkey Tail Cactus by Jenny a month or so ago. She was moving house and had no where to put it so we gladly gave it a new home in the cactus house. I gave it a feed when we first brought it home but held off with re potting till winter. Last week I noticed some flower buds forming so looking forward to seeing them open.
